How Much Is the Fare From Cebu to Bohol

Cebu to Bohol

Bohol is one of the best tourist sites that you can't miss during your travel. It's famous for beautiful beaches, caves, and nature. Since it's located next to Cebu Island, you need to take the ferry to get to Bohol if you're coming from Cebu.

There are eight routes to get to Bohol from Cebu. However, the most popular route for tourists is Tagbilaran-bound. The ferry costs ₱500 ($10) and takes 2 hours to get to Bohol. There is also a direct ferry from Oslob to Bohol, so if you want to save your time, you should consider this option.

Cebu to Tagbilaran

Tagbilaran City is the capital of Bohol. Most tourists choose this Tagbilaran-bound route because it's accessible to Panglao island and Anda where there are many beaches to chill. If you think about going to these places, you should take this route to get to Bohol.

Ocean Jet

Ocean Jet is one of the famous fast craft ferry service providers that mainly operates in the Central Philippines. It's fast and offers the most number of trips every day.

Tagbilaran to Panglao (Alona Beach)

Panglao island is located in the south of Tagbilaran City. It is famous for having several beautiful beaches that are Alona Beach, Doljo Beach, Danao Beach, Dumaluan Beach, and Bikini Beach, to name a few. Amongst all, Alona beach is the most loved place by tourists because it has good vibes. It's not so close to the ferry port in the city but still accessible. You can take one of the following modes of transportation to get there.

By Jeepney/Bus

There is a large Jeepney/Bus Terminal in a mall called "Island City Mall" that is roughly 3.5 km away from the port of Tagbilaran. You could technically walk but better to take either the Jeepney or tricycle. With the Jeepney, it costs around ₱10 (¢20) and ₱30 (¢60) to ₱50 ($1) with the tricycle to get to the bus terminal.

If the driver charges more than that or tells you that there is no Jeepney or bus to go to Panglao, that's a sign of a scam. Just ditch him and talk to another driver.

Dao Integrated Bus Terminal

From the terminal, find a Jeepney or bus that takes you to your destination. The route and destinations are usually written on a plastic plate hung on the front glass. To Alona Beach, for example, it costs around ₱20 (¢40) to ₱25 (¢50). If you go to the other place in Panglao island , it wouldn't be expensive.

Alona Beach

By Tricycle

In the ferry port, there are a lot of tricycles waiting for people to get out of the terminal. To go to Panglao island, it costs around ₱200 ($4) to ₱300 ($6) per trip . However, it may depend on how many people in your group. You may get more discount if you have more people with you.

Last time I travelled to Alona Beach with my friend, we paid ₱200 ($4) for going there and ₱140 ($2.8) for going back to the port. On the way to Panglao, we were initially told ₱300 ($6), so we ditched him right away. If you look a foreigner to the Filipino, you'll be likely to get overcharged just like you may have already experienced in other places in the Philippines or other countries, so please be careful about it.

By Taxi

Most beaches in Panglao island are really far from the port, so you expect to pay around ₱500 ($10) to ₱600 (₱12) . However, in the Philippines, all taxis are metered. Therefore, if you are told a prearranged fare, that's a sign of a scam. In that case, you can ask the driver to hit the meter or change the taxi. Please keep an eye on the meter because some drivers don't hit it intentionally even if you ask. The initial fare of the metered taxi starts from ₱40 (¢80), and it charges ₱13.5 (¢27) per km and ₱2 (¢4) per 2 mins.

By Shared Van

From the port of Tagbilaran, you can take a shared van to go straight to your hotel in Panglao island directly. The van picks you up at the port and drops you off at your hotel, so you don't need to deal with hustlers in the port. The fare is as low as ₱270 ($5.4) per person for one way.

👉 Book A Shared Van

By Private Car

Private cars are also available. Just like the shared van, they pick you up at the port and drop you off at your hotel in Panglao island. The fare starts from ₱360 ($7.2) per person for one way.

Tagbilaran to Corella (Tarsier Sanctuary)

Tarsier wildlife sanctuary is one of the most popular places in Bohol where you can see tiny monkeys with big cutie eyes. It's located in Northeastern of Tagbilaran City. The distance is almost the same as going to Panglao island, so you expect to pay a similar amount of fare as what I mentioned earlier.

By Jeepney

From the port, you first need to go to Dao Integrated Bus Terminal as I mentioned. There, find a Jeepney or bus that passes Corella. From the terminal, it's ₱20 (¢40) to get to the Tarsier sanctuary .

By Tricycle

The distance is almost the same as going to Panglao, so please expect to pay around ₱200 ($4) to ₱300 ($6) per trip .

Rent a Motorcycle

Bohol is quite a large island, and tourist sites are not gathered at the same place. The best way to explore Bohol is to rent a Motorcycle. In Bohol, you can rent one for around ₱300 ($6) to ₱500 (₱10) per day.

You can find it in motorcycle stores, but you also can book it online in advance with "Book2Wheel." What you need to do is to choose a location, decide your pick-up time and return time, and select a motorcycle that fits your budget. Upon confirmation, you need to pay 20% upfront, and the rest of the fee should be paid to the owner when you pick up your motorcycle. You can even rent a car and van on the website.

However, please be minded to bring a valid driver's license that allows you to drive the motorcycle legally in the Philippines. You can drive it with either your country's driver's license or international driver's license. However, your country's driver's license is valid up to 90 days from your arrival.
